Antojitos Mexicanos El Güero is one of the most popular food stands at the weekly Thursday Market in Santa Maria La Ribera.In addition to the delicious tlacayos (thick, grilled blue corn tortillas stuffed with cheese or black or fava beans), El Güero prepares other simple Mexican dishes right in front of your eyes: quesadillas, sopes, and gorditas. These can be filled or topped with a variety of fillings ranging from traditional (cheese, chicken, and beef) to the heart stopping (chicharron – fried pork rind) to the delicately exotic (flor de calabasa – squash blossom). Besides tasting good, food at El Güero comes at the right price: 10 pesos per item (about $1).
