Bodeguita Del Medio - Mexico City

  • Description:

    • The story is that Ernest Hemingway would sit at La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba and write all day. Besides rum and sugar cane, this is a very successful Cuban export, finding a table or even a space at the bar is difficult, especially on the weekends, but if you are looking for a funa and lively place, in addition to a delicious Mojito prepared exactly as they do in Cuba, there is no better place.

You can get a sense of how popular this place is by the amount of messages written on the walls with black felt markers. Everyone that visits is encouraged to do so and if you can find an empty area on the wall or roof, go ahead and do so.

Food is traditional Cuban fare: rice, plantains, black beans and fried pork. Tasty, home made but not fancy or elegantly served. Just plain good food.
