Description:

  • Sobrinos, the latest restaurant opened by of Chef Roberto Craig Ortega's Tintorera Group in Mexico City, is a 21st century bistro. It is always filled with chic urbanites that are newly mad for Colonia Roma, which is well known for its Beaux Arts style buildings. Chef Bobby also operates Primos (nephews) in Condesa and Tios (uncles) in Santa Fe. Sobrinos is the kind of restaurant where you wouldn't mind dining alone, seated at the bar, which is lined with dozens of bottles of mescal, the smoky alternative to tequila made from the maguey plant. The food served in the retro-looking dining room is "cocina de barrio" or neighborhood cooking. Mexican appetizers like chipotle-scented tortilla soup and tacos start the bill of fare, which also includes some international favorites: grilled steaks and hamburgers and excellent French fries. Sobrinos is located near Casa Lamm Cultural Center and Hotel Casa de la Condesa.
