Description:
- Located in Coyoacán in the square of the same name, both are known affectionately by the local people as 'La Conchita'. This baroque-style church was built in the 18th century, fulfilling the dying wishes of Hernán Cortes (the Spanish conqueror of Mexico) that a convent should be erected on this site. The pretty façade appears to be bordered, with an eye-catching combination of mosaics and Moorish designs made from plaster. The church within is no less splendid, and has some finely crafted wooden altarpieces. Just for special events.
