Centro Cultural Bella Epoca

Description:

  • The Bella Epoca Cultural Center in Mexico City is a lively center for literary and cinematic arts. Located in the Condesa neighborhood, the former Bella Epoca movie theater now houses a bookstore, café, cinema, and art gallery.

The main space is wide and bright, with natural light filtered through a sloping glass roof and two skylights that pierce the suspended glass ceiling by artist Jan Hendrix. Operated by Fondo de Cultura Económica, Latin America's largest publisher, the Rosario Castellanos contains thousands of books, magazines, and recordings in many languages. customers are invited to peruse them while sitting in comfortable padded armchairs.

The curving Galería Luis Cardoza y Aragón displays temporary exhibitions. Next to the gallery, the Cine Lido art cinema presents independent films and documentaries. Stop by Bella Epoca if you are staying at The Red Tree House or Condesa Haus.
