• International Museum Day, created by The International Council of Museums (ICOM), takes place every year on May 18. On this day, Mexico City's 105 museums "dress their best" and celebrate with guided tours and special offers. As technological advances take people further and further away from their cultural treasures, the museums encourage round-table debates on such subjects as the future of museums in Mexico, diversity, globalization and the revolution. Each year the event features a different theme, with topics such as "Museums and Universal Heritage".
