Description:

  • 'The Pumas' is one of the most popular soccer clubs in Mexico. The name was suggested by one of its founders, Roberto Méndez, who wanted the players to be like the famous felines: strong, aggressive, brave, quick and intelligent. It seems that the name was prophetic because this club soon became a factory of successful players, such as Hugo Sanchez, who caused a sensation in the '80s in Europe. The Pumas have been national champions in 1975, 1977, 1981, 1985 and 1991.
