Hi, Eurostars Zona Rosa is a good base to explore the city and its surroundings. To organise your program, a good start is to check out the website of Tours by Locals: http://www.toursbylocals.com/MexicoCityPrivateTours. Here you find a varied offer of guaranteed tours at affordable prices. For instance, check out the historical downtown area, beautifully renovated over the last years, you can visit the famous anthropological museum with a nice zoo nearby, and take a boat ride in the floating gardens of Xochimilco. According to your interests, you can complement with some excursions, to nature (caves, hotsprings, volcano climbing...), or the archeological and colonial gems in the surroundings (Teotihuacán piramids, Xochicalco, Tula, monasteries...). You can ask for customized tours on the site. Please feel free to ask for any more detailed ideas according to your interests.

From Zona Rosa you can start by exploring into downtown if you head east along Reforma Ave. It will be a long walking excursion but quite the sites to see the city's architecture. Downtown has the Zocalo, Bellas Artes, Alameda Central, Chinatown and the Mariachi section along with some other sights.
I recommend Coyoacan as well as Xochimilco. For a half a day excursion, the pyramids in the outskirts of the city.

Excellent time to go to Mexico City. Most of the population are traveling due to extended Holy week vacation, therefore less traffic and pollution. I live quite a ways from Mexico City (24 hours drive time) but, went to college there. I suggest you contact an uncle of mine (Uncle Jesse). His name is Jesus Romero. he is a social anthropologist and the smartest person I know. He knows the museums and culture of Mexico better than anybody. His e mail is email@example.com and his home number is (55)5658-0461 Let him know Captain Quickie sent you. Happy travels!!!
