The Best of NileGuide
- Miami has grown into one of the big American financial centers, and yet still its biggest draw (not surprisingly) are the miles and miles of beaches that line its shores. Whether you're visiting for business or pleasure, the bevy of luxury hotel options that awaits you rivals that of any other big North American city. If you're doing business in downtown Miami or want to dive into one of the hippest club scenes in the country, stay in one of the giants that towers over the city below. The Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental are outside of the main tourist areas, but each offer their own take on luxurious comforts. No spa in town can beat the Mandarin Oriental's, where everything from outdoor massages to belly dancing lessons awaits. The Four Seasons is right in the middle of the city's business center, making it super easy to go right from a meeting to relaxation by one of the several pools with margarita in hand. The Hilton Grand Vacations finds itself perfectly situated for another side of Miami: the South Beach scene. From the beaches to the restaurants to the clubs, this is one of the hottest places to be, and the people-watching is killer. If you're looking for a vacation that's a bit more relaxing and away from the bustle of the city, though, go to the small islands off the coast. With both upscale and more casual dining choices, the island options away from downtown offer a small private world shared only by other patrons. These places tend to be better for visitors with children, too, since they have lots of activities to keep the young ones busy. The Grove Isle hotel and Spa and the Fisher Island Club are a short boat ride from Miami proper, and both have the quiet serenity of an exclusive island resort - and the accompanying spas, golf, shopping, and upscale dining, of course. Or take to the Keys for hotels like the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, whose gardens stretch for miles and private beaches offer ample opportunities for swimming, sunning, and surfing. The people-watching can be good here, too - you never know which celebrities you might spot sharing in the luxury of Miami's island oases.
