  • Though Madonna and BeyoncĂ© may choose The Setai over the Delano these days, it doesn't mean South Beach's original see-and-be-seen hotel is over just yet. The stunning pool area, Rose Bar, Agua Spa, and Blue Door restaurant are still studded with the bold-faced and the beautiful, but today the Delano, a place where smiles from staffers were as rare as snow in Miami, is somewhat kinder and gentler. The fact that Delano's parent company, Morgans Hotel Group, scrapped plans to expand the Delano in favor of opening a less expensive Delano-esque hotel across the street speaks volumes. But it certainly is still amusing to look at -- with 40-foot sheer white billowing curtains hanging outside, mirrors everywhere, Adirondack chairs, and faux fur-covered beds. Rooms that were once done up sanitarium style, sterile yet terribly trendy, just received a revamp that boasts a splash of color and reworked bathrooms that went from spartan to spacious.

    Facilities: 3 restaurants (featuring the acclaimed Blue Door); bar; large outdoor pool; state-of-the-art gym; spa; children's programs; concierge; business center; room service; in-room massage; same-day laundry and dry-cleaning services.
