  • The Catalina is something straight out of an Austin Powers movie. It's groovy, indeed! Stylish but not at all stuffy, the Catalina is perhaps the only hotel in the area that can pull off using red shag carpeting -- though it tends to get a bit mangy. The mod squad lobby decor gives way to rooms glazed in white with hints of bright colors featuring Tempur-Pedic Swedish mattresses, 300-thread-count Mascioni sheets, goose-down comforters and pillows, iPods, and, of course, flatscreen TVs. The hotel has a happening bar and lounge scene with a decidedly European jet-set vibe and a splashy beach club where you can get poolside manicures and pedicures. If Catalina is sold out, check out its sister hotel, the Metropole Suites, 635 Collins Ave. (tel. 305/672-0009; www.metropolesouthbeach.com), another favorite for hipsters and recording artists. Rates there start at $195 in season and $125 off season.

  • It was fun at this hotel everything very local. The bath room was very small and ugly. I would not call this a luxalry hotel but i did like it
