Description:
If ever a restaurant could be as cavernous as, say, the Asian continent, this would be it. Formerly a hub of hype and pompous circumstance, China Grill has calmed on the hip meter, but its cuisine is still sizzling, if not better than ever. You'll find an incomparable and dizzying array of amply portioned dishes, including outrageous crispy spinach, wasabi mashed potatoes, and seared rare tuna in spicy Japanese pepper sauce. Keep in mind that China Grill is a family-style restaurant and dishes are meant to be shared. For those who can't stay away from sushi, China Grill also has Dragon, a 40-seat "sushi den" in a private back room with one-of-a-kind rolls such as the Havana Roll, which consists of yellowtail snapper, rum, coconut, avocado, and red tobiko, plus cocktails such as the Lemongrass Saketini. New in 2008: In what was once China Grill's private room is a South Beach branch of the ultra pricey Kobe Club (tel. 305/673-5370), a 50-seat restaurant devoted to all things meaty, where a "flight" of beef -- Kobe, Waygu, American -- costs upwards of $350. You really better love meat to spend that money.
