Description:
Open 24 hours daily, this Miami institution is the kind of place where you'll see everyone from Rastafarian musicians and cab drivers to Lenny Kravitz. It's in a shady neighborhood -- Carol City -- so if you go there, you're going for only one reason -- Jumbo's. Family owned for more than 50 years, Jumbo's is known for its world-famous fried shrimp, fried chicken, catfish fingers, and collard greens. Their motto -- "Life is to be enjoyed, not to be endured . . . Making friends is our business" is spot on. The service is friendly and fun, and there's history here, too. Jumbo's is the first restaurant in Miami to integrate in 1966, and the first to hire African-American employees in 1967.
