Description:
What once used to be an uberstuffy restaurant suitable for the regal Biltmore Hotel has tried to hippify itself, if you will, by adopting a modernized French menu conducive to chic, albeit less formal, dining. While I haven't exactly seen the hipsters flocking here, at least the menu is more fun than before, because you are allowed to custom design your own menu, choosing from over 20 dishes which you are encouraged to mix and match. A four-course, custom-made tasting meal costs about $54. Not bad for a place that used to be known for only the upper tax-bracketed. Although some of the food is funky -- foam mushroom bisque, squab breast, and rabbit, for example, it's all pretty seductive and, at these accessible prices, worth trying at least once for the experience.
