Deering Estate

• Charles Deering, brother of James Deering, was an avid art collector, which is evident the moment you step into Deering Estate. The 444-acre estate in the southern part of Miami is now preserved as a community facility used for cultural, historical and nature education. History buffs will relish in the site's historical depth: the buildings on-site date back as far as the late 1800s, there's a Native American burial mound dating back to the 1600s and archaeological remnants of fossils from 10,000 B.C. have been uncovered there.
