South Beach Sojoun
Day Note:
After a late afternoon arrival and a short jog down the beachside boardwalk, I found a nice little Italian cafe along the Lincoln Mall with outdoor seating.
Afterwards, it was off to the trendy Delano Hotel for a bit of "see and be seen" time at the Rose Bar. The interior spaces are gorgeous---and only matched by the people...if you like that sort of thing.
I stayed at the Fontainebleau, which has undergone a fantastic refurbishing. Back in the Rat Pack era...

Day Note:
It would be shame to come to southern Florida and not at least get a round of 18 holes in. Afterwards, some refreshments on the promenade at Mango's, followed by a world-class steak dinner at Prime 112.

Built in 1915, this sexy SoBe spot is the perfect place to drink and dine with Miami's beautiful people. Small seafood appetizers are the way to go here: oysters rockefeller, pan seared scallops or escargot. Sit down (and carnivorous) diners should opt for their Prime One Twelve's namesake—Prime steaks, of which there are multiple choices and sides to accompany. Some standout side dishes include Serrano Ham and Manchego Cheese Gratin, Sweet Potato and Vanilla Bean Mash and the Sea Salt Baked Potatoes, served with Vermont butter, applewood smoked bacon bits and chive sour cream.

Day Note:
The Marlins may not be so good these days, but it's always fun to lounge in the sun and enjoy a few beers at the ballgame. After some time at the fantastic botanical gardens, I headed back to South Beach for a few more hours of sand and surf before catching an evening flight home.

While the Florida Marlins have gone through a rough patch in past years, hopes are high that the team will improve through the seasons. The Marlins are a relatively new team, having played their first season in 1993. However, they already have one World Series under their collective belt, having beaten the Indians in the 7th game of the 1997 tournament. Pro Player Stadium is the official home of the Marlins.
