American Airpower Heritage Museum

American Airpower Heritage Museum - Midland

  • Description:

    • With a "Ghost Squadron" of more than 130 planes and choppers, this museum is home to the world's largest collection of vintage World War II aircraft. It's worth an hour or two for aviation and history buffs. The planes are housed in an adjacent 60,000-square-foot hangar, with about 15 on display at any given time. There are also multimedia exhibits and nice collections of war artifacts and aviation nose art. The museum's operators sponsor the annual AIRSHO each October, featuring dramatic re-creations of World War II events.
