Hotel Manzoni

  • I've been waiting a long time for this place to reopen and, allegedly, that hour is at hand. Previously, this was a simple, midscale, laid-back hotel relatively cheap for this high-rent neighborhood, but after a renovation that lasted more than 4 years, the Manzoni was scheduled to reopen at the time of the printing of this book as a four-star hotel. When I visited it in August 2007 the entrance was still obstructed by plastic sheets and construction workers were milling about, so there really was no telling what the Manzoni had become. The only thing I can say for certain is that it has become more expensive -- only vague price ranges were available at press time -- but that is to be expected in this, the most upscale neighborhood in the city.
