May Day Café

• This friendly café near Powderhorn Park serves up tasty goodies and great live entertainment, offering a varied weekly schedule of poets, strolling minstrels and jazz ensembles. Local artists are allowed to display their work, adding a little color to the plain walls. Be sure to check the chalkboard for the menu and daily specials. The mostly vegetarian menu features salads, soups and breads. The overstuffed bean and rice burrito with a tossed green salad or piled turkey sandwich on homemade bread are both filling but still leave room for dessert. A breakfast of large, moist muffins, homemade pastries or vegetarian scones will get you going, especially if paired with cappuccino or good old black coffee. Juices, teas and soft drinks are also served.
