Since 1956, the St. Clair Broiler, one of the first in the nation to grill food over an open flame, has served up all-American food -- hand-dipped malts and shakes, tuna salad and grilled cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers and fish and chips. There's nothing gimmicky about this restaurant -- no red-and-white-checked tablecloths or mouthy waiters -- just a pleasant, contemporary interior of sage green, gleaming chrome, and really good food. The restaurant's terrific breakfast entrees, including omelets, pancakes, and French toast, are served all day.
