Mill Creek Swimming Hole

  • Type: Water Sports
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

This is a great place to cool off that doesn't involve chlorine

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Expect high traffic in the summer

    Description:

    • Mill Creek is a pretty, burbling thing that runs very close to Moab. It's extremely popular with locals for swimming, hiking, and general goofing off in the summer. Ancient petroglyphs hide behind shrubbery clinging to the sandstone rock walls. Mill Creek Canyon itself makes for a nice hike, with plenty of water crossings and trail negotiating. At the swim hole, you'll find a little pool of deeper water. Beware of people jumping off the rocks, which is a no-no but of course done anyway.

Directions: take Mill Creek Drive to the three-way stop. Turn onto Mill Creek Road and continue to Power House Road. You'll see the large dirt parking area. On summer days, it can be totally full, so you'll have to find space farther down the road you just drove on.
