  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Easy to reach, excellent example of natural arch

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

    Nice lighting in the afternoons

    Description:

    • At a mere quarter mile in length, this lovely arch is quite easy and quick to reach. The trail is flat, sandy, and easy. The arch itself, however, is quite impressive, leaping out of a large sandstone rock wall. The scramble up the rock to get underneath the arch itself can be challenging, so proceed to that point only with great caution. The trail can be heavily-used. It got its name because it's the only arch in the park that seems to sit on the skyline, rather than having rocks in the way or a different background view, such as mountains. After part of the arch collapsed in 1940, it instantly doubled in size.
