Description:
Bargains and Monaco rarely go together, but this hotel is an exception to the expensive rule. When it was built in the 1930s, this hotel was sited in the then-fashionable neighborhood a few steps downhill from the railway station. Today it's an appealingly dowdy Art Deco monument with three floors, no elevator, and comfortable but anonymous-looking rooms. Madame Gay Angèle, the English-speaking owner, is proud of her "Old Monaco" establishment. Her more-expensive rooms have showers, but the cheapest way to stay here is to request a room without a shower -- adequate facilities are down the hall. Mattresses are a bit thin, but are reasonably comfortable, especially for these prices.
