As a popular tourist destination, finding a hotel that suits your needs will not be difficult in sunny Montpellier. Most hotel accommodation is conveniently concentrated in the centre of the old town, between the train station and the main square. Here the choice ranges from snazzy boutique hotel to more economical family run guest houses.
For a prime location there are a number of great hotels directly on Place de la Comedie, which allows you to be right in the heart of the action. Hotel d’Aragon is a top choice. After being recently renovated, the hotel provides spacious rooms which are decorated individually to give the place a personalised charm. Enjoying a Pan Au Chocolat under the hotel veranda makes breakfast a particular treat. Royal Hotel also shares the advantage of an ideal location, but whilst boasting of a central position, also aims to provide a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. The 46 rooms have a contemporary design, each kitted out with satellite, telephone, and air-conditioning.
If aspiring for luxury, La Maison Blanche is an elegant colonial style chateau, beset in parkland, offering extensive grounds to explore during your stay. The hotel is decorated in respect of its colonial history, and is interestingly inspired by the Louisiana architecture. The 34 rooms in the hotel are spacious, and aspire to provide ultimate comfort, some of which are adjoined to a covered walkway leading to the grounds. At the other end of the spectrum, and for those of you looking immerse yourself in the student culture alive in Montpellier, perhaps a stay in the local youth hostel may be more up your street. The ‘Auberge de Jeunesse’ is a renovated old building, which benefits from being centrally located, nestled in a cobblestone street right next to Montpellier’s beautiful cathedral. The 94 dorms beds are split into variable sized room, which can range from six to ten beds, being a perfect way to meet other visitors to the city.
