• This highly desirable property is housed in three cunningly converted adjoining buildings dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The elaborate architectural details of that era are in abundant evidence inside, with high ceilings and richly carved capitals and moldings. Few desires are not catered to -- a complimentary afternoon wine-and-cheese party is held in the ground-floor lounge of the original structure, which becomes a hugely popular gathering place in the evenings, and there's a rooftop sun deck. Many rooms have original brick walls and all are decorated in simple, contemporary fashion: slate floors in the bathrooms, deluxe bedding with down comforters, spotlight lighting. Many bathrooms feature downpour (rain-shower) shower heads. The hotel's acclaimed restaurant, Aix Cuisine du Terroir, replaced a previous mediocrity lodged in the space below the lounge. A free morning shuttle service takes guests to several downtown business locations. On top of all that, the elaborate Rainspa incorporates a hammam -- a traditional Middle Eastern steam bath -- in addition to offering massages, microdermabrasions, French manicures, and body wraps. This is a sister property to the Auberge du Vieux-Port and Hôtel Nelligan.
