• BBQ is an Old Montreal eatery that specializes in comfort food, but with a gourmet take on the offerings. While they offer well priced chicken and excellently prepared ribs, and other fare one would expect from a BBQ joint, peer a little more closely into the menu and you start to see some rich additions and interesting takes that make this a stand out place for a quick bite while traipsing through Old Montreal.  People who work in Old Montreal come by regularly for BBQ's crab cakes and a personal favourite of the author is their garlic bread—sure anyone can serve garlic bread, but BBQ does it with a gratinée of Migneron cheese, the Mac and Cheese is made with fresh Gruyere. There is also a healthy assortment on the menu of Quail eggs, foie gras and even caviar. If this is comfort food still, it's fairly high end comfort food, as BBQ is no regular BBQ. Well lit, modern and spacious, with exposed brick and stone walls and old-time printed ads on the tables,  this is a casual dining experience you will not soon forget. If you plan on eating here, be sure to come by around 5:30 as the local work force piles out of the towers nearby and commences another Montreal establishment, "le 5 a 7" (aka Happy Hour).
