Concordia University

  • Type: Landmarks
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

Concordia University's urban campus is rapidly expanding. From the first building on de Maisonneuve to the newly constructed Art Deco inspired building on Ste-Catherine, Concordia's buildings are as diverse as its student body.

  • Description:

    • The result of a 1974 merger between downtown Sir George Williams University and West End Montreal's Loyola College, today's Concordia is a fine example of an urban educational institution. It still retains the two campuses; they are seven kilometres apart and are connected by a free shuttle. The university boasts 21,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students. Four undergraduate faculties offer a total of 180 different subject areas while the School of Graduate Students provides more than 60 programs leading to Master's and Doctoral degrees.
