- This theatre was created as a result of a merger between the Stanislavskii Opera Theatre and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in 1940. Some theatre lovers insist that if you're planning your first visit to the ballet or opera you should start right here. Although generally recognised to be second only to the Bolshoi Theatre, the theatre's production of 'Swan Lake' is said by some to be the best in Moscow, Bolshoi included.
