Tchaikovskii Concert Hall

Description:

  • A concert hall belonging to the Moscow Academic Philarmonia. The concert hall was constructed during 1938-1940 and bears the socialist-realist marks of that era. The hall was originally intended as an avant-garde theatre, but after the death by torture of the director-to-be during the Red Terror, the arena was transformed into a concert hall. Today, the concert hall presents performances not only by the musicians of the Philarmonia but other forms as well, including dance. Here you can see the Igor Moiseyev Ballet, the 'Berezka' ensemble, and a variety of Moscow symphony orchestras.
