Description:
- Created in 1992 with the disintegration of the USSR, May Day or Spring Holiday was originally known by the snappy title of the International Day of Solidarity of the Working People. The day was initially marked by impressive military parades but nowadays, although a few die-hard communist party supporters still gather in the square, the day is largely given over to festivities including concerts and firework displays.
