Poteshnyi Palace (Poteshnyi Dvorets)

Description:

  • Visitors to the Kremlin must pass through the Trinity Gate Tower. The yellow Poteshnyi Palace stands just to the right on the other side of the Tower. Built in the 17th century by Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, the palace was allegedly home to the first ever permanent theater on Russian territory. Later, Stalin took up residence in the palace, and it is perhaps best known as the place where his wife Nadezhda shot herself in 1932.
