Sovremennik Theatre

Description:

  • The name comes from a neat little Russian word signifying someone who is fashionable and knows his age. The theater's history began when a group of students from the Moscow Art Theater School produced an independent play in 1956. The original director of the theatre was well-known actor Oleg Efremov. The theatre arena is housed in a specially reconstructed cinema hall. Many famous Russian actors have stepped out on to this stage, including Oleg Tabakov, Valentin Gaft, Anastasia Vertinskaia and many others.
