Victory Day

Description:

  • Singing, dancing, fireworks and tears are the signature of Victory Day. The Russian holiday is both a day of celebration and of sadness. Although it's supposed to be about celebrating Russian victories at Stalingrad and Berlin, it is the Red Army's defeat during the Autumn of 1941 that is sadly remembered instead. The Victory Park (Park Pobedy) is taken over by bouquet-bearing crowds who gather in the uniforms of old to remember, sing, dance and shed a tear for time gone by. When night falls, the sky is lit up by fireworks.
