Summer in the Bolshoi Gorod

Description:

Everyone knows that winters in Moscow can be cruel -- they've stopped everyone from Napoleon to Hitler from overtaking the Russian capital. What's less famous are Moscow summers, a welcome treat after many months of cold weather. I personally love summer in Moscow, when the sun goes down at 11pm and rises at 4am, just when you are coming out the the club. here's a two-day guide to enjoying warm weather in Moscow.

Day 1 - Moscow

The outdoor patio at Scandinavia is beloved by all businesspeople who work around Tverskaya. Arrive early for a lunch table and enjoy light Scandinavian cuisine, including salmon and sandwiches. Afterwards find your inner child at the Moscow Zoo -- it's the only time of year the animals aren't freezing! Next take a jaunt in Hermitage Gardens, a downtown park which usually has open-air concerts in the summer. For dinner, hit nearby Dymov No. 1, a stylish sausage-and-beer restaurant with a deck. Finally, boogie down at Parizhskaya Zhizn in Hermitage Gardens until the sun comes up.

Day 2 - Moscow

You'll wake up early whether you like it or not when the bright morning sun shines in your face. Head to Le Pain Quotidien for a super-healthy French-style breakfast on pedestrian street Kamergersky Pereulok. Then it's off to the Botanical Gardens to walk amongst the fragrant summer flowers. Mid-afternoon, enjoy a cup of coffee (or iced tea) at popular coffeehouse Coffee Bean, before heading off to the impressive Victory Park, where you'll find many families strolling among the war monuments. Get dressed up in your best hipster duds for dinner and a little dancing at the uber-trendy Solyanka, followed by a nightcap at the 24-hr bohemian bar Kitaiskii Letchik.
