  • Mumbai boasts the most active nightlife in the country, full of trendy town bars, an emerging comedy club scene and lively disco clubs. Mumbai bar scene is also extensive, and ranges from beer gurgling hippy haunts to high end cocktail saloons. In the Colaba area, there are a number of popular traveler hangouts. To mingle with other travelers, Leopold's Café is definitely the number one spot for a few kingfisher local beers, in a laid back environment. Alternatively, Café Mondegar, locally known as "Mondys", is a bar full of charisma; in existence for 100 years, the bar's walls are covered with famous Mario Miranda cartoons and spoof drawings depicting the city of Mumbai. The place is a favourite hangout amongst the bohemian traveler looking for a chill and a chat. Otherwise, if looking for a night spent in style, head down to Basaba, an intimate lounge bar, with a moody setting, dimly lit with exotic lamps, low-lying sofas and floor cushions. For a big night out, Mumbai also offers some swanky and exclusive clubs. Rhythms tends to be a mix of modern Western dance, with a tinge of Hindi pop sporadically thrown in. The likes of highflying businessmen and up and coming Bollywood stars will be the ones grooving on the dance floor or sipping premium liquor.
