  • In recent years, Mumbai has been recognized as one of the most rapidly expanding hotel markets in the world. As the economic nucleus of India, the cities booming hotel business endeavors to meet the business sectors demands for deluxe business, whilst still being able to provide accommodation for the tourists and explorers at the other end of the spectrum, looking to use Mumbai as the starting point of their bohemian travel path. From cheap to chic, Mumbai beds them all. For the corporate visitor, the south part of the city is the best area to be station, where many hotels are located right in the heart of the business and diplomatic district. For top-end accommodation, the Grand Hyatt provides 500 luxury suites, which will fulfill any businessman's needs- spacious suites, marble baths, king size beds, high speed internet and wonderful city views. For holiday tourists, the Colaba district offers a good range of midrange accommodation, and is the main westerner hangout. Very traveler friendly, Colaba has the advantage of being nearby many of the city's main tourist attractions. Try the Bentley Guesthouse, one of the best midrange hotels, and ideally situated only a stone's throw away from the amazing Gateway of India monument. The Staff are friendly and inviting, and the hotel has a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, making it a welcomed escape from chaotic exploration and the city conundrum. For those looking for a real budget, there are a number of traveler hostels which will cater for the intrepid backpacker on a shoestring. The YMCA is the cheapest hostel in the Colaba area, and the basic rooms are clean and comfortable, even equipped with air-conditioning and private bathrooms, with breakfast is provided. The hostel is a popular choice for many young visitors to the city, and can be a good place to meet other westerners, and pick up some useful city tips.
