• This cozy corner of a restaurant is very much a restaurant for the locals, which should not be missed by any visitor staying in a nearby hotel.  Its food is pretty standard Bavarian cuisine with standard local prices.  The atmosphere is casual and cozy with exceptional service.  The Gaststätte FAUN is not on the normal tourist path, and many consider this a good thing as you are likely to be the only tourists in the house.  Table reservations are not required although on weekends and holidays it is recommended.
  
  It is located to the South of the old town in a section of town called "Gockenbach."  This area is considered the new hip and trendy part of town that Schwabing once was.  Lots of dance clubs, bars, and nightlife is located within a short walk and if the weather is right it is still easily walkable from Marienplatz.  This is still an extremely safe part of town and should not be avoided at night as that is often the best time to visit.
