Löwenbräu Keller

• One of Munich's most famous breweries, Löwenbräu, of course has its flagship beer hall near the center of town. The tower at the entrance has been there since the 15th century and its cavernous atmosphere, excellent service, and extremely well chosen menu keep this a local hot spot. Since it is just outside of the old town area, many tourists will not just stumble across this gem of a beer hall, but it is located just a five minute walk north of the main train station. The Löwenbräu Keller's fest hall hosts large events such as the only serious alternative to Paulaner's Starkbierfest. In fact, in the last twenty years Löwenbräu's Starkbierfest have given Paulaner a run for its money. Aside from the Starkbierfest, there is a monthly schedule of events posted on Löwenbräu's website.
