    • Herrenchiemsee was King Ludwig II of Bavaria's largest and most expensive palace.  Although he is best known for Neuschwanstein, this was built as his 19th century replica of Versailles. 

      The tour takes a boat ride between the islands, possibilities of romantic walks or simple horse drawn carriages, and of course the tour inside of the palace which allows you to see not only what was finished, but also what never will be finished as the interior was only half complete at the time of Ludwig II's death.
