Salzburg Small Group Day Tour from Munich

NileGuide Expert Says:

For lunch, check out the Augustiner Salzburg, which is possibly the must beautiful beer hall (traditional restaurant) in the country.

Address:

Munich, Germany

Description:

Known for its status as a UNESCO world heritage sight, Mozart's home town, and of course the movie The Sound of Music.  Whatever your reason for visiting, there is probably ten times as much to see as you would expect from this beautiful ancient city.  Salzburg was founded in 696 and for most of its history it has been an independent country.  Because of this it has its own palaces, cathedral, and of course castle.

The tour takes you by train from Munich to Salzburg on a scenic two hour ride.  Once in Salzburg you get a one and a half hour guided tour covering the old town area.  The tour itself covers all of the main churches, both of Mozart's houses, as well as the famous Mirabell palace gardens.  At the end of the tour you are given three hours to go into the museums, up to the castle, or even hit a beer garden.  The group meets back up by the riverside and returns to Munich by seven thirty in the evening.
