Tierpark Hellabrunn (Munich Zoo)

  • Type: Zoos/Aquariums
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Make sure to visit the "Villa Dracula" and feel bats zooming past your ears at close range. No worries - they prefer fruit to blood!

  • Description:

    • The Zoo Hellabrunn was opened in 1928 and was the world's first "geo zoo", arranging the 17,000 animals of 700 different species according to their geographical origin. This gives the visitors a chance to visit each continent and their inhabitants individually and get an idea of what the eco-system may look like. Hellabrunn is world renowned for it's breeding programs, amongst them the Przewalski's Horse and the Drill. Enjoy a nice stroll through the zoo and discover the various animals on display in enclosures that try to offer the animals as much space as possible. The aviary, built in 1981 offers birds in free flight in a dome 18 meters high. Watch the feeding times of penguins, sea lions, tigers, polar bears, lions and baboons (Check feeding times at the entrance).Children will also enjoy the petting zoo, the horse riding station and the big playground.
