This is one of the island's most romantic restaurants, run by one of the island's most creative chefs, Al Kovalencik. What is unusual here is the chef offers one distinctive three- to four-course fixed-price meal each night, so check the menu out front or by telephone before booking. In the candlelit dining room, classic American and Continental influences predominate; don't miss the soft-shell crab appetizer when it's offered. The main course could be a special swordfish preparation, rack of lamb, or beef Wellington. For dessert, there's always something exceptional, like a chocolate soufflé cake. Because the fixed price includes three courses -- an appetizer, main course, and dessert -- and large portions, this restaurant is actually a fine-dining bargain on Nantucket. Several nights a week in season, a harpist serenades diners.
