Description:

  • Once the home of the Grand Ole Opry, this historic theater was renovated a few years back and is once again hosting performances with a country and bluegrass music slant. The Ryman was showcased in the documentary Down From the Mountain, a film version of the all-star bluegrass concert performed there featuring music from the movie soundtrack O Brother, Where Art Thou? In 2003, the venue was the site of a star-studded memorial concert for the late Johnny Cash. Today, musicians of all genres revere the intimate auditorium, where the acoustics are said to be better than Carnegie Hall's. In recent years, acts as diverse as Beck, Yo-Yo Ma, Coldplay, Al Green, and India.Arie have played to packed houses at this National Historic Landmark.
