• Chic and urbane, F. Scott's is an unexpected gem tucked amidst the shopping center hinterlands surrounding the Green Hills area. The classic movie-palace marquee out front announces in no uncertain terms that this place is different. Inside, everything is tastefully sophisticated yet comfortable and cozy. The restaurant's seasonally inspired menu is among the most creative in the city. Although the menu changes frequently, you might start with an appetizer of tender scallops, wild mushrooms, and spinach in a crispy phyllo cup with sun-dried tomatoes, bacon, and a white-truffle beurre blanc (warm butter sauce). The salad course of mesclun greens in a curried apple vinaigrette topped with goat cheese, cashews, and carrot shards, served in a crispy papadam cup, couldn't be tastier. Daring but universally delicious entrees vary from chile-braised short ribs with pineapple-plantain potato cakes, to pan-roasted Arctic char with butternut squash spaetzle and green beans, and Singapore noodles with julienned beef, leeks, peppers, and onions. The wine list here is very good, although expensive. Live jazz in the lounge nightly provides another incentive to keep sophisticates coming back. There's also free valet parking.
