• Realistically and practically speaking, The Bahamas is not the type of place to stay in a hostel or budget hotel. In fact I had never known what a hostel is until a few years ago. Any Bahamian will recognize the noun backpack, but never "backpacking" as a verb. For the hostel crowd I would suggest getting together a group and renting a house on one of the Out Islands (skip Nassau). It will work out reasonably price-wise. You'll have a real experience in a place where the true soul of the islands lie. As far as I know no hostels exist in The Bahamas.
