• Sunrise is a good bet for quieter families who want to avoid the circus at Atlantis and enjoy a more subdued, relaxed vacation. This cluster of Spanish-style low-rise town houses occupies one of the most desirable stretches of beachfront. Midway between Hotel Riu and the One&Only Ocean Club, it's a short walk from the casino and a variety of sports and dining options. The hotel is usually full of Germans, Swiss, and Austrians, many of whom stay for several weeks. Accommodations are clustered within five groupings of red-roofed town houses, each with access to the resort's two pools (one of which has a waterfall) and a simple snack bar. Expect pastel colors, summery furniture, a private patio or veranda, and a kitchen, plus king-size beds, floor-to-ceiling mirrored headboards, and average-size bathrooms. The best units are the three-bedroom apartments, situated directly on the beach.
