Nassau Public Library & Museum

Description:

  • Built in 1797, this nifty octagonal structure was once the Nassau Gaol (pronounced "jail"). Visitors are welcome to take a look at the small cells which now hold only books as their prisoners. Exhibits include relics left by the Arawak Indians, the now extinct indigenous people of the Bahamas. There is also a collection of centuries old prints and colonial documents. Admission is free.
