The tongue-twisting Puataukanave means "hibiscus" in Tongan, but locals call this property "Pua's Hotel." The restaurant and a building with 14 of the rooms sit beside the Port of Refuge in the middle of Neiafu. Another 36 units are in a second waterside building, which has shops at ground level. All their balconies face the water. The economy rooms are in a building to the rear; they have only partial views of the Port of Refuge, and two of them lack air conditioners. Another wing has simple rooms and dormitories aimed at backpackers and low-budget divers. These units are devoid of amenities; none has a view. In other words, they are much less attractive than the airy units at Adventure Backpackers . It lacks charm and is understaffed, but is the most modern hotel on Vava'u.
