• Charming and whimsical, this isolated and romantic dining hideaway is reached after a bouncing, axle-breaking detour to the wooded highlands above Hamilton Plantation, about 4km (2 1/2 miles) east of Charlestown. Here, within a tropical garden that's ringed with a fence and a gate, lies a traditional, veranda-ringed Nevisian cottage. Views of the surrounding terrain and the sea from here are fabulous, even though at night, you're likely to see an occasional light within an otherwise isolated, underpopulated landscape. Begin a meal here with a Bertini, the house cocktail (something akin to a passion-fruit martini), then move to such entrees as bourbon-soaked baby back spare ribs, Moroccan-style lamb shanks with garlic-flavored mashed potatoes, or any of several varieties of Thai-style curries. Decor within this Nevisian cottage includes Turkish carpets, exposed stone, and a winning combination of English and Caribbean antiques.
