New Delhi Off The Beaten Path Restaurants

    • Andhra Pradesh Bhawan Canteen - New Delhi
      • 1. Andhra Pradesh Bhawan Canteen

      • Tucked away in an insignificant by-lane off Ashoka Road, the Andhra Pradesh Bhawan Canteen is one of the best places in town to experience mouth-watering Andhra cuisine. There are no alluring boards, instead, a no-nonsense, "Way to Canteen" sign that shows you the way. The décor is strictly functional. The seating, canteen-style, eight to a table. The food, heavenly. For Rs. 80, you get two dry vegetables, two-three types of lentil soups -dal, sambhar, rasam, pickle, rice, roties/puries (bread), pickles, yogurt and a sweet dish. The helpings are unlimited. You are expected to eat as much as you can. And speedily make way for the next batch.
